How ActiveNet's Privacy Model Works

ActiveNet works by proposing new connections between employees in response to a request created by an employee facing a particular work situation. ActiveNet’s role is to discover and propose connections to other employees; it is up to those employees whether they wish to accept the connections proposed to them by ActiveNet.

When a request is created, ActiveNet selects the particular employees who should receive invitations to respond to the request based on a number of factors including the topic of the request, the type of request and the eligibility of an employee to receive the request. The most important aspect of this invitation process is that it is based on a single-blind social protocol. Simply put, this means that the originators of requests are identified in the invitations sent to recipients, but the recipients of invitations are not identified to the originator unless and until they choose to respond and “opt-in” to a connection with the originator.

The opt-in model in ActiveNet described above allows ActiveNet to perform its function offering new connections to employees while simultaneously preserving the privacy of employees involved. This aspect of ActiveNet’s design creates a high level of privacy protection among and between employees who are ActiveNet users.
